Research interests

  • Physical model test on marine reclamation
  • Influence of different factors (e.g. initial water content, salinity, dip angle) on soil behavior
  • Numerical modelling of sedimentation and consolidation

Topic 1：A fast soil improvement method for reclamation over marine deposits

  • Contribution: conducted a large physical model test and three small physical model tests to find a fast way for soil improvement.
  • Significance: developed a new reclamation method that the construction period is much shorter than traditional ways.





Topic 2：Salinity and sampling angle effects on soil behaviour

  • Contribution: conducted a series of tests with different salinity and sampling angles, including settling column test, oedometer test, hydrometer test, SEM test, XRD test.
  • Significance: find the influence of salinity and sampling angle on the behavior of Hong Kong marine deposits.
