Topic 1:Rapid treatment of dredged mud slurry using a vacuum-assisted PHD and solidification/flocculation combined method

  • Contribution: New methods that combines the vacuum-assisted prefabricated horizontal drain (PHD) and solidification/flocculation combined method for the rapid treatment of the dredged mud slurry.
  • Significance: Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of mud slurry treatment.

Topic 2:Analytical solution and numerical model for soil consolidation induced by vacuum-assisted prefabricated horizontal drain

  • Contribution: More advanced model that can consider the effects of large strain, nonlinear property changes during the consolidation process, layered backfilling, etc., is developed.
  • Significance: To more accurately simulate the consolidation involving vacuum-assisted PHD.

Topic 3:Behaviour of rigid culvert under high backfill

  • Contribution: Analytical solutions for calculating the vertical stress on the rigid culvert under high backfill were established, and new load-reduction culvert structure was developed.
  • Significance: Improve the design of buried structures and make the buried structures safer.
