Topic 1:DEM simulation of laboratory shear tests

  • Contribution: simulated four common laboratory shear tests by DEM and compared the differences among them from a microscopic view.
  • Significance: providing a clear insight on the different failure patterns among different shear tests.

Topic 2:The coupled CFD-DEM simulation of slope instability induced by internal erosion

  • Contribution: set up the coupled CFD-DEM model of loose granular slope to study the instability induced by internal erosion considering the solid-liquid-gas interaction.
  • Significance: helping to have a better understanding of the moving and changes of the three phases during the process of slope failure.
