Frontiers in Geotechnical Engineering Mini-Symposium 2026 Highlights

Updated: February 5, 2026

The Frontiers in Geotechnical Engineering Mini-Symposium 2026 was successfully held from January 31 to February 1, 2026, in Foshan, Guangdong. Organized by the School of Civil Engineering and Transportation of Foshan University, the event brought together distinguished researchers from leading institutions across China and beyond.

The symposium featured a vibrant program of academic exchanges, including dedicated sessions on grant proposal writing, presentations on emerging research directions, and open discussions on key topics such as advanced constitutive modeling, multi-scale numerical methods, and the integration of AI in geotechnical engineering. These activities stimulated deep interdisciplinary dialogue and helped shape future research priorities.

In addition to the academic sessions, participants enjoyed a series of cultural and team-building activities, including visits to the historic Qinghui Garden, the Kang Youwei Museum, and the Shiwan Ceramics Museum, as well as a relaxed “egg-carrying” competition. These informal gatherings fostered camaraderie and provided a welcoming environment for networking and collaboration.

We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants, the organizing committee, and the supporting institutions for making this symposium a memorable and impactful event. Special thanks to Dr. Maya Cheng and her team for their excellent coordination and warm hospitality.
