Congratulations to Mr. Ruidong Li, CEE PhD Student supervised by Prof. Zhen-Yu YIN, on receiving the “Best Poster Award” at the 10th International Conference on Discrete Element Methods (DEM10). Held from July 1-5, 2025, in Himeji, Japan, the DEM10 conference is a globally recognized premier event in the field of discrete element methods (DEM). The conference provided a comprehensive platform to explore the latest advancements in simulating particulate systems using DEM, spanning a diverse range of topics. These included coupled simulations, particle fragmentation, non-spherical particles, multiscale and multiphase systems, as well as innovative data-driven modeling approaches. Mr. Li’s award-winning presentation, titled “Accurate 3D Particle Reconstruction Using Large Vision Models”, demonstrates his exceptional research contributions and commitment to tackling critical challenges in geotechnical engineering. His research significantly advances micro-scale investigation of granular media, enhancing both in situ testing protocols and numerical simulation frameworks. We extend extends our heartfelt congratulations to Mr. Li on this outstanding achievement. His success reflects not only his dedication and diligence but also underscores the continuing excellence of our department within the field. We look forward to his future contributions and the positive impact his pioneering work will have on geotechnical engineering.
