Highlights reviewing in 2022

Fruitful 2022 is reaching the end! We have so many wonderful moments to share with you. Here we presents ten highlights of this year.

1. Dr. Pin ZHANG, defended on July 2022, was recently awarded the Newton International Fellowship. Pin will continue his research work at the University of Cambridge and the Alan Turing Institute.



2. Dr. Pin ZHANG successfully organized the conference of TC309 Technical Forum of Young Scholars on Data-driven Modelling of Soil Behaviours with Geotechnical Applications supported by ISSMGE in November.



3. Dr. Pei WANG received the Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) of the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC). Pei was also supported by the Young Scientists Fund (specific to HK) of NSFC this year.



4. Dr. Yinfu JIN joined Shenzhen University as a full professor in September (Award of Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) of NSFC in 2021). Yinfu was also supported by the General Fund of NSFC this year.



5. Dr Hanlin WANG jointed Hunan University as full professor in May (Award of Excellent Young Scientists Fund (Overseas) of NSFC in 2021).



6. Ms. Chang HE, Mr. Gengfu HE and Mr. Zeyu WANG received Best Student Presentation Award during the 25th Annual Conference of HKSTAM 2022 and the 17th Jiangsu – Hong Kong Forum on Mechanics and Its Application held on 23 April 2022.



7. Dr Weijian LIANG, Dr. Ning ZHANG and Dr. Qi ZHANG were promoted to be Research Assistant Professor of PolyU.



8. Both Prof. Zhen-Yu YIN and Dr. Pei WANG received General Research Funds (GRF) from the Research Grants Council of Hong Kong (RGC).



9. Prof. Zhen-Yu YIN successfully organized two conferences: (1) Chair of online conference “International Symposium of Soft Ground and Smart Geotechnology”, Shantou-Hong Kong, 7 January 2022; and (2) Co-Chair of online conference “International Symposium on Intelligent Geotechnics”, Hong Kong, 10-11 June 2022.



10. Prof. Zhen-Yu YIN was approved to chair the coming 17th International Conference of the International Association for Computer Methods and Advances in Geomechanics (IACMAG) in 2025 (http://www.iacmag2025.com/).
