We had an incredible journey in 2024, filled with remarkable achievements and unforgettable moments. Here, we are excited to share the top 10 highlights of the year with you. Let’s continue striving for greater success and reaching new heights together in 2025!

1. Our Ph.D. graduate Dr. Pin ZHANG joined the National University of Singapore (NUS) as an Assistant Professor under the Presidential Young Professorship in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (https://cde.nus.edu.sg/cee/staff/zhangpin/).

2. Our RAP (Research Assistant Professor) Dr. Qi ZHANG got the offer of Assistant Professorship and will join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of University of Macau in January 2025.

3. Our team member Dr. Kaiqi LI received the PolyU Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship, and was selected as a candidate of JC STEM Early Career Research Fellowship of HK.

4. Our colleague Dr. Chang HE participated in the South China Sea scientific expedition in October, supported by the NSFC project.

5. Our team members Dr. Yu PAN and Dr. Penglin LI joined the Fugro Prize 2023/2024 - Presentation Competition held by HKIE. Dr. Yu PAN won the first prize on the topic of “Experimental investigation on the combined PHD-PVD vacuum preloading method for treatment of clayey slurry”. Dr. Penglin LI won the 2nd runner-up on the topic of “Experimental investigation of nonuniform consolidation behavior of clay slurry with prefabricated horizontal drain”.

6. Our team participated in massive domestic and international academic conferences this year, sharing the latest research findings.

7. Our PhD students received fruitful prizes this year in geotechnical conferences. Mr. WU Xian-Han won the first prize of the student presentation competition in 2024 Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Greater Bay Area Geotechnical Engineering Youth Scholar Forum. Mr. Yang CHENG, Mr. Cong TANG and Mr. Shunxiang SONG won the Best Poster Award in IS-Macau 2024.

8. Prof. Zhen-Yu YIN was invited and delivered the Keynote Lecture on “Hydromechanical modelling of internal erosion in gap-graded granular soils” in IS-Grenoble 2024 in France (https://is-grenoble2024.sciencesconf.org/resource/page/id/3).

9. We have 9 Ph.D. graduates in PolyU and 2 Ph.D. graduates in UMacau (co-supervised) this year. We wish them a bright future and continued success!

10. Prof. Zhen-Yu YIN was invited to serve as the Associate Editor of Géotechnique (https://www.emeraldgrouppublishing.com/journal/jgeot).
